Welcome to the LCRD Youth Wrestling Program! The goal of this program is to promote health and physical fitness, good sportsmanship, learning of wrestling  fundamentals, and to provide a fun and worthwhile leisure activity for the participants. We hope to provide all participants with a worthwhile experience in our program!

1. PROGRAM FORMAT: Participants will receive instruction in various styles of wrestling. There will also be opportunities for participants to compete in wrestling competitions on a pay as you go basis. The instructor will provide the information on competitions.

2. UNIFORMS: Each participant will receive a  "Liberty County Mat Rats" t-shirt. The instructor will provide advice for additional uniform items, such as, a singlet and proper shoes.

3. PRACTICES: This program will start Saturday, September 6, at 9:00am and continue through May 2009. Practices are held in the gymnasium on the campus of what was formerly Liberty Elementary School in Midway, each Tuesday & Thursday from 6:30-8:00pm and on Saturdays from 9:00-11:00am. The gym is located behind the Midway City Hall and Civic Center, on Hwy. 84. Parents and other family members are allowed to observe practices, however, siblings and other children must be closely supervised and remain seated with their parents at all times.

4. SPORTSMANSHIP: Learning good sportsmanship is an important part of the sports experience for children and is a very high priority at LCRD. Players, coaches, and spectators will be required to demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times. Taunting or yelling at opponents will not be allowed. Adults must serve as good role models by exhibiting good sportsmanship as spectators. Those that violate this rule may lose their privilege to participate in this program.

The instructor for this program is a volunteer representative of the Recreation Department, who basically runs the entire program. LCRD representatives and staff have the authority to remove participants that refuse to follow the rules set forth for this program.
